Visibility across multiple clients’ AI: how an agency can measure them all at once

An agency can measure visibility across multiple clients’ AI systems simultaneously, provided that each brand uses the same measurement method: a fixed set of questions without brand names, the same four models, and a common scan date. In this case, clients’ results can be compared, reports are generated automatically, and the cost per client drops from several hours of manual work to a few dozen zlotys.

Multi-client visibility in AI: a dashboard with six brand tabs and charts, with one brand highlighted

Below, we explain how to set up such a survey, how many questions each customer is asked, what the timetable looks like and how much it costs. We describe the service that can be built on this basis in the text GEO services at an SEO agency.

Why doesn’t manual measurement work with multiple clients?

This is because manually measuring visibility in AI across multiple clients does not scale and does not yield comparable results. A manual test for a single brand involves a dozen or so questions asked of four models, several times each, as AI chatbots respond slightly differently each time. That’s an hour or two’s work per client. With ten clients, that’s two days’ work every month, and the result still depends on who asked the questions, from which account, and using which words.

The second problem is comparison. If one member of staff asked the questions in July and another in August, and the latter phrased them differently, the difference in the results may be down to the wording rather than the agency’s work. The client will then ask what they are paying for. That is why, for many brands, reliable measurement is based on a fixed set of questions, as we describe in the entry frozen query set.

How do you set up visibility measurement in AI for multiple clients?

The same principles apply to every brand. Only the keywords and competitors differ; the method remains the same.

ONE METHOD
Five measurement principles for multiple brands
Thanks to them, it is possible to compare clients’ results over time.
01Questions without a brand nameEvery client has questions about their category, such as those asked by their own clients, in accordance with the principle of a neutral scan
02Frozen setquestions set during the first scan and left unchanged, so that subsequent reports can be compared
03The same modelsChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity for every brand, with web search enabled
04Competitors in the surveythree to five competitors per brand, so that the client’s results have a point of reference
05Joint timetableA full scan of all brands at the same rate, with a report following each scan
The principle highlighted is usually the deciding factor in whether a client will believe the report.

We describe the ‘no brand name’ rule in the entry neutral scan, and the way in which we measure chats with web searches, in the text Measurement with web search. The full method is on the website Methodology.

How many questions and phrases does a single customer need?

When measuring visibility in AI, many customers typically require between 3 and 12 phrases each, which equates to between 9 and 36 questions. One key phrase This breaks down into several questions, as customers ask the same thing using different words. A local service provider offering a single service can be covered by three phrases. A shop with several categories or a B2B company with a broader range of products needs 6–12. More important than the number is whether the phrases answer the questions that drive sales, rather than general questions.

How do you report visibility in multi-client AI?

The same applies to every client, showing their performance relative to the competition and a comparison with the previous measurement. The client doesn’t need to understand how the model works. They need to see three figures and one list: how many times their brand is mentioned in the responses, how often the models cite their website, how they compare against their competitors, and what to do next. We describe the details in the text AI Visibility Report for the client.

Customers most often ask about price drops. AI chatbots respond slightly differently each time, so a single drop of a few points is usually just a fluctuation. We explain how to explain this in the text A drop in AI visibility: a temporary fluctuation or a real problem?.
