What the personal brand assessment reveals
What you’ll find in the first report
- No presentations or publications in external sources
- The specialism is described too broadly
- No citations in the topics on which you offer advice
When it comes to personal branding, the obstacles are almost always the same: the model has no way of demonstrating their competence.
Sample report. These figures are for illustrative purposes only; actual results will depend on the category and the competition.
What is a typical month at work like?
What Aelo doesn’t do

Questions about personal branding
Does Aelo measure the visibility of a surname?
Yes. The set of questions is based on what you describe as your area of specialisation, and includes questions about both you and your field. We describe the method in methodology.
That model reminds me of something else. What should I do about it?
This is a different issue from a lack of visibility. It usually stems from there being more content online about your other occupation, or from you being confused with someone with a similar surname. The report shows which sources the model is based on.
How does a diagnosis differ from a recommendation?
Recognition is when the model knows who you are. A recommendation is when it mentions you when someone asks about a particular field. These are two different tasks. We explain this in detail in the article knows it, but doesn’t recommend it.
I don’t have time to run a blog. Does it make sense?
Studio It provides resources for the vulnerabilities it has identified, so you don’t have to start from scratch. The tasks are organised by impact, so you can tackle one a month.
Who should be listed as a competitor?
The people you want to appear alongside in replies. We calculate the share of mentions in relation to them. You enter them in ‘Brand Identity’, as described in the article How to describe a brand on Aelo.
Does Aelo publish anything on my behalf?
No. The tool does not have access to your website or profiles. You approve and publish the content yourself.
How long does it take for things to change?
The results are assessed following the next full scan, i.e. after a month. Signals from outside your own website take longer to build up. We discuss this in the article Why aren’t the changes visible straight away?.
