USP, unique selling proposition

Brand and positioning
A USP is a unique selling proposition: a specific reason why a customer chooses this brand rather than another. It must be verifiable; otherwise, it won’t work for either the customer or the business model.

What does that mean?

Why must a USP be verifiable?

A statement about the highest quality and a personalised approach applies to every company in the category, so it doesn’t set any apart. The model has nothing to take away from it, and the customer has nothing to compare it with. Only concrete details matter: the deadline, scope, terms, quantity and guarantee.
In terms of visibility, this has a straightforward consequence. Models base their recommendations on characteristics that can be compared across brands. A company described solely by adjectives is excluded from comparisons, even if it is recognised.
FAQ

Questions about this concept

The questions most frequently asked in connection with this concept.
Is USP a slogan?

No. A slogan is an advertising tagline, whilst a USP is a specific feature of an offer that can be verified and compared.

How many USPs should a brand have?

Usually one main point and two supporting points. Any more than that muddies the message and makes comparison more difficult.

Where does the USP fit in with Aelo?

To Brand Identity, and from there to Brand Knowledge and the materials produced in the Studio.

Check whether the models can detect your distinguishing features

To start with, you get 250 AeloCoins, without a card. That’s enough to run a measurement and test the modules. Once you’ve used them up, you switch to a paid plan. The report shows which words the model uses to describe the brand when talking about it.
